Since our inception, Carter Temple Community Development Corporation (CDC) has worked tirelessly to enhance the Chatham and surrounding communities on Chicago's South Side. Our mission is to cultivate a vibrant and healthy community where people live, work and play. Our core values are ECONOMIC EQUITY and RACIAL JUSTICE. has worked tirelessly to promote . We are fortunate to have volunteers and support from all walks of life who bring their unique expertise and resources into everything we do. This is what enables us to achieve our goals year after year.
Carter Temple CDC promotes models that encourage lasting change in the lives of young people and families by helping them realize their potential for growth in the context of caring relationships, nontraditional learning experiences and community service.
Our Pillars: capacity building, education, and community outreach.
Each pillar is supported through specific programming to reach intentional goals.
On the Horizon: Gateway 79, our mixed-use development (housing and retail) through a partnership with Carter Temple C.M.E. Church. This development will be located at 79th & State, the current site of Mahalia Jackson Court.

DR. JOSEPH B. GORDON
President of the Board
Dr. Joseph B. Gordon has served as President of the Board since 2014. He has led some of our most important initiatives, including our selection as an Equitable Transit-Oriented Pilot Project and the development of Gateway 79, our mixed-use housing development at 79th & State.
