Carter Temple Community Development Corporation was organized with community transformation in mind. Organized by Bishop Henry Williamson in 1998, the initial mission of the organization was to provide community services, as well as the development of low-income housing along the 79th Street corridor in Chicago's Chatham neighborhood on the Southside. Today, that vision continues to live through the leadership of Dr. Joseph B. Gordon. We remain committed to providing revitalization of the physical, social, and economic fabric of our community.

Our mission is to development transformational community-based programming that targets the most vulnerable demographics in our community, especially youth and their families. Programs include: STEM-based education and immersion; violence prevention and intervention; job training, including skilled trades; financial awareness and entrepreneurial development; arts and cultural immersion; creative writing and spoken word; and student scholarships.
